Introductions

Well, here's what I'm doing: I originally had a personal blog in Friendster, but it got too overloaded with political issues, so I decided to move the political entries to this site, in order to show my thoughts to more people.

Beware though, as my thoughts are almost always biased, and I type with emotion. Please be advised that some entries may contain vulgar language, usually directed to appropriate people and/or things.

Not Ethical, konon.... WTF??

First Posted on 17th April 2008:

Please refer to here for the latest article in The Star. This Prof. Dr. Mohd. Mustafa has the galls to say that the political coup that is soon to be raised by Datuk Seri Anwar is unethical. And his balls are so big that he has even challenged Anwar's strengths in politics by saying 'Perhaps that is why Anwar himself is not standing in any by-election, as it would undermine his leadership if he could not garner a landslide majority". Time will tell, my dear mediocre Professor Doctor. But I digress. Ethical, you say? I guess corruption is ethical. I guess the repression of the voices of the people is ethical too. Wait, I think C4'ing a Mongolian and pushing the blame to a scapegoat is ethical too! While many may agree that it's not right for Datuk Seri Anwar to do stage the coup e' tat, me included, the recent actions made by our darling government have been so arrogant that I am now looking forward to the day Datuk Seri Anwar becomes Prime Minister, the faster the better.

Say, what did our government do after the March 8 elections? UMNO and MCA leaders bickering amongst themselves and putting the blame on everything but the kitchen sink. Not listening to the public's outcry to release the HINDRAF 5, while the bright-minded Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar defended the government's action that they were 'still a national threat to security'. How? Please list the reasons so that we can understand your justifications. And on the same note, he also said that the Makkal Osai's permit was 'not revoked, is merely not extended'... The end result is the same lah, Datuk. No permit means no permit. And his justification this time? Same case. Use the 'threat to national security' card again. Seems like that point alone justifies a lot of stuff lately. The next time our government does anything that the public doesn't like, hey! They can just say it's for your national safety. Good grief. BUT! That's not all!

What about that pig-farm-blog-entry-by-Malacca-CM incident? The Malaccans have such a bright fellow for a CM that I project many many great things will come from his administration. Or his mouth, at least. First, he congratulates the people of Selangor for electing Pakatan Rakyat, and that the present that they were given was 'kandang babi'. Sure, he gets 400+ comments, mostly to nail his ass on the wall, and what does he do? If I remember correctly, YB Lim Kit Siang had a similar response when he posted in his blog that all the DAP assemblymen would boycott the swearing-in of the Perak MB. He APOLOGIZES and RETRACTS his statements. This is what a wise person does. The CM Datuk Seri Mohd. Ali Rustam deletes all the comments, disables the comments feature on the blog, and then attributes all of this to 'hacker attacks'. Now this is what a smartass does.

How I wish to be in politics right now. So many targets, so little time. I can't believe that all this time we were being ruled by people with such low education and yet they manage to stay in power for so long... Wait. I think I do. Oh well.. On to you to lead the way, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim!

A Lot on My Head Recently..

First Posted on 13th April 2008:

Good morning on yet another Black Monday. Work is piling up on my end, but I'm taking a bit of time to speak what's been on my mind these couple of days. So today I'm going to talk about pig farming, the tumpangnaut issue again, and the separation of prescribing / dispensing medicine (not really politically motivated, but corruption nonetheless).

Recently the issue of the mega pig farm project has been played up by Utusan Melayu and UMNO for political reasons. From environmental to muslim issues, it seems that UMNO has been doing a lot of legwork in showing the people how 'disrespectful' the new government of Selangor has been to the rakyat. And even after the explanation given by the Menteri Besar of Selangor that the costs of the megapork project would be bourne by the pig farmers, that the technology used would emit zero pollution, that with this megaproject all other pig farms in Selangor would be moved there and no other pig-rearing license would be issued in Selangor, they still go on and on and on like a headless chicken complaining about nonexistent problems. To me, the best solution for me would be for Tan Sri Khalid to produce all the documents on the pig project after the analysis to the public's scrutiny to end the debacle.

I guess the rakyat have suddenly had an injection of IQ power enough to demand for so many information now, so different from what I've been used to, a herd of cattle blindly following the sheepdog government.

And on to our Malaysian favourite. Our very own Tumpangnaut, the first in the world. He's even got a book on himself! I can't imagine what he has to say about his life in space.. sleep, eat, look at space, teh tarik abit, eat roti canai, fetch stuff for the Russians and Americans.. What's so interesting about all this that you are compelled to buy that book? I hope none reading this have bought it, otherwise I'd be embarrassed to admit that you're my friend. And so, they've reported that the 'naut's results would be published soon. And here I thought that his time in the sun has already expired after the elections, when he went campaigning with BN members using his 'celebrity' status. yuck. It would be fun to see how the world would react to his 'findings' though. Well, we'll wait and see.

And last but not least, the fight for the separation of prescribing and dispensing drugs by pharmacists have been brought down hard by the corrupt practising doctors in Malaysia. Why do I say corrupt? Because doctors have been monopolizing the right to prescribe and dispense since 1952. And even with the pressure put on by pharmacists for their right to dispense, these more influential doctors who have pecuniary interests have resisted and lobbied to stop the pharmacists from getting their basic rights. But aren't pharmacists supposed to just sell supplements and emergency contraceptive pills in the first place? WRONG!

Since most of us aren't even born yet when the Poisons Act of 1952 was established, all of us are already used to going to clinics and getting our medications from there, and we only go to the pharmacists when we need contrceptives and supplements or some cough mixtures. So what's the problem here? For those who have went overseas, namely Australia, USA or UK, and fell sick there, you must have seen how their healthcare systems work over there. You visit the doctor for a consultation, the doctor prescribes the necessary medication for you, and you take the prescription to the pharmacist to collect your meds, just like what we do in hospitals here in Malaysia. The problem is, when the doctors have absolute power in prescribing and dispensing drugs, a high risk of conflict of interest may occur. They might diagnose you with some probable conditions just so that you'd have to take more medications. In addition, the drugs that they give you might be just generic drugs, selling at branded prices. But the doctors say they sell generic drugs so that we are able to pay less for the clinical fees. But tell me, has anyone ever paid less for their visits to the clinic before? Everytime you go, it either goes up again, or you'll feel relieved that the price hasn't changed.

But the doctors say, how many pharmacies do you see here in Malaysia? Not enough! And the pharmacists are usually not around when you need them the most! This, my dear economically-challenged doctors, is because of supply and demand. Because pharmicists have been reduced to the store-keeping job that they are doing now in Malaysia, they'd much rather work in huge pharmaceutical companies where the pay is better and their work appreciated. But just imagine, if the practice of separation is in place, more pharmacists will be needed, and thus more pharmacies will be opened! A 24-hour pharmacy would even be feasable in this situation! Heck, I would go as far to say that I'd open one with my wife if it ever comes to this!

And the benefits of having all this? If you didn't know, pharmacists are also professionals, and they also have the knowledge of diagnosing common symptoms of patients, much like what the general practitioners (GP) do in clinics all over the country. But one difference is that pharmacists DO NOT CHARGE consultancy fees at all. Another benefit for us is that we will be able to take control of our medications. Tell me again, how many of you know the name of medications you are given by your doctors (besides the fact that this is for my fever, and this is for my runny nose)? And how much do these medications cost apart from your doctor's consultation fees? Transparency is nil in this aspect. All doctors charge you as a 'package', consultation fees and medications in one fell swoop. Even when the medications are generic (you know they're generic when they don't have any brand names on them, which, unfortunately, is *usually* nearly all of them), you still pay RM50-RM70 each time you go to the doctors'.

But alas, all the points that I raise here are useless, not just because the powers of the doctors are more widespread than pharmacists in Malaysia, but because of our own public ignorance. Since all of us have been raised this way, it is nearly impossible for us to change our ways overnight. BUT! What we can do is have those money-sucking GP's break down all the costs for the meds and consultation for us to compare with pharmacies. Trust me, as a Malaysian, most of us will probably take the 'itemised' bill just to compare the prices of meds with the pharmacies. And through this way will our public educate themselves on how the importance of the practice of separation of prescription and dispensing will be in their lives.

UMNO Penang.... SORE LOSERS!!!

First Posted on 21st March 2008:

Firstly, let me say that I hate Datuk Azhar Ibrahim to the bones. Every part of me hates him. I have 3 posts contiuously that's all about him. Why? Because he's such a sore loser that he's doing so many childish acts and it irritates me. Being the state opposition leader, what's the first thing he does? Conduct a protest outside of Komtar. And what did our Prime Minister Dollah said during the Bersih rally? 'POLIS KATA JANGAN'. What did his son in law Khairy said about the Bersih rally? 'BUAT MACAM BERUK BERUK DI JALAN RAYA'. And that's what their own people were doing at the time. Monkey politicians.

Besides that, our 'state opposition leader' also had the guts to tell a press conference that he will persuade the state government to scrap all mega projects in Penang 'because the public did not vote for them'. But that's not all. Even after the PM Dollah responded to this by assuring the public that no projects will be scrapped, he issues another statement saying that they will go ahead and persuade them to scrap it anyways. Sore, sore loser. If I make it into politics, this person will be the top of my list to shoot down. He's a corrupted UMNO politician who has lost his avenue of corruption and is now blaming the Barisan Rakyat on his shortcomings. I pity that bastard. Not.

And again, this time he's setting up an 11-man 'shadow exco' to monitor the Penang administration. Please lah Datuk, your exco doesn't have salary one lah, what's the motivation behind it? To be honest, I don't think some 11 guys would be free enough to do those jobs under the pretext of 'monitoring the state government's policies'. Even if you have any problems with any of their policies, what you gonna do? 'JADI BERUK BERUK DI JALAN RAYA? JADI HERO DI JALAN RAYA'? Grow up, man. It's still not late.

In my opinion, I'd pretty much love to see what will happen come April 15... may Datuk Seri Anwar kick all their asses back to their sorry little huts. As Jeff Ooi says, 'Things will get more exciting after April 15. Mark my words'. Power to the people!!!

Politicking...

First Posted on 14th March 2008:

Pathetic. Just this morning I wrote about the statement made by him, and this afternoon he's already done something even dumber. When Bersih made their rally, when HINDRAF made their rally, they got bombarded with tear gas and shot with chemical-laced water cannons. When UMNO holds a rally, what do they get? Time to submit their memorandum.

If this isn't biased, I don't know what is.

Please, please, please. To Datuk Azhar Ibrahim, IF YOU DON'T LIKE PENANG, GET OUT OF HERE. We aren't forcing you to stay. Since this was the treatment that the Opposition received before in the Parliament, it would be fitting for the opposition party of UMNO in Penang be dealt the same way. GET. THE. FUCK. OUT.

Responding to the statement made by the opposition leader from UMNO in Pg Datuk Azhar Ibrahim (check it here), grow up!!! What a sore loser. Since when did the Penangites disapprove of the 2nd Bridge? The extension of the 1st bridge? We have endured months of traffic jam on the first bridge so that you slowpokes would get the extension done and running, and now this?

This is such a childish act. Do you think that since Barisan is the opposition in Penang you have the right to yank out all federal fundings to the state? We will unite and persist, we will be patient, so that in 4 years Barisan Nasional will be the opposition party in Malaysia! See how you BN cronies are going to live by then.. Beruks.

Analysis of the Recent GE12 Results

First Posted on 10th March 2008:

heh heh heh... I still can't get that grin outta my face...

OK! On to the analysis.. On why the BN government has garnered such a weak support from the people? Well, in my own opinion, it's their own arrogance that brought about their own doom. If they hadn't reacted so strongly on the Bersih rally and the Hindraf rally in November, they wouldn't have lost so much. If they hadn't imprisoned the 5 Hindraf leaders. If they hadn't blocked all media coverage on Malaysia's problems. If they hadn't block all media access to the Opposition parties. If Samy macha Vellu hadn't turned his hairy back on the Indian community, everything would have been very different. All these factors turned out to be very advantageous to the Opposition, especially Datuk Seri Anwar as he managed to rouse the rakyat's emotions and feelings to turn on BN. But at the end of the day, had everyone really voted emotionally?

Let me go deeper. Corruption, Khairy, and inflation. From recent months, we have cases like temples and churches being demolished like nobody's business, Atlantunya C4'd by the police, a prominent lawyer being caught on tape brokering judges' appointments, a sex scandal involving the former Health Minister, the Sharlinie kidnapping, and prices of household goods skyrocketing. What does it say about our government? Poor performance from the police, a corrupted judiciary system, and a corrupted, family-owned government *ahem* Khairy *ahem*. And what was the reply given by the government? 'Be happy with what you are getting'. 'Prices of petrol, flour, sugar, etc. are still the lowest in SEA'. huh? I thought the government should be addressing the problem instead of telling the public off. So does this prove that we are intelligent, proactive voters instead of the stupid rakyat that they perceive us to be?

As happy as I am with the results of the GE12, I hope the the newly captured states are governed effeciently and effectively by the ruling state governments. I hope that they should now be more united as ever as they have now states to rule over and develop. And I repeat, in Penang, Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, KL and Selangor, DAP, PKR and PAS should now be referred to as the ruling coalition state governments and the BN as the Opposition. hahaha... Feels good, doesn't it? Reformasi!

'I still have strong support from UMNO'... but do you still have support from the Rakyat???

First Posted on 9th March 2008:

Good morning to a new Malaysia, everybody!

How have everyone been these few days? For me, I've been happy, restless and very very satisfied that Penang, among the 4 other states, has been overrun by the Opposition. Power to the people! And as a sidenote, The Star is very much readable already, now with news (and pictures!) of Datuk Seri Anwar, our new CM Guan Eng, Jeff, Karpal and many more Opposition leaders.

However, I feel that the TV media is still not willing to accept defeat. Till now I still see RTM, TV3 and Bernama TV insulting the intelligence of the voters. Their ' political analysts' have blamed the voters to be 'playing with fire', 'too many young voters who are hoodwinked by the internet media' and 'voters are voting with their emotions'. But let me get this straight: If you check again, you'll see that the more civilised areas (Penang, KL, Selangor, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu) have been taken over by the Opposition. Are they trying to say that the educated people in Malaysia are dumb? Well, they WERE, but not anymore.

The BN has suffered a huge defeat, not because they relinquished control in 5 states to the Opposition, but more because that the states affected are substantial income generators to the government. Namely Penang (Tourism, a bit of Port trading, FDI), Kedah (the rice bowl of the country, Tourism in Langkawi), KL and Selangor (the heart of Malaysia), Kelantan (where a new oil cache worth billions of ringgit has been discovered), and lastly but not the least, Perak (ermmm.... yeah, Perak). It's good that our Pak Lah and his S-I-L Khairy will have less leeway to continue and bamboozle our public funds.

But I still have some gripes on statements and remarks made by some BN leaders in the press. Firstly, on Ong Kah Chuan, the brother of Ong Kah Ting. After his win, he said that he was 'disappointed by the voters for easily being deceived by the Opposition with their sweet talks'. Please lah kachuak, one or two people being deceived I can understand lah... But we are talking about educated voters who voted consciously against the BN. I for one, am disappointed by the voters who voted for the kachuak to get into Parliament. Now we'll have some pest problems come Parliamentery meetings. He goes on to say the the petrol prices follows the world prices, blah blah blah. Again, please refer to any one of Datuk Seri Anwar's explanations in Youtube. Pathetic.

Another statement that I can't take is the statement made by our 'Prime Minister' himself. 'I still have strong support from UMNO'. Do you think that UMNO IS Malaysia? Please step down gracefully or we will have to dethrone you 4 years from now in another very very bad upset. The rakyat is not stupid (even though some are).

Join me as I analyse on the results of the GE12 tomorrow, if I'm free....

Best Regards,

Talking About Hoodwinking the Rakyat...

First Posted on 2nd March 2008:

The closer the election is, the more restless I become, thus the more feverish my posts become. =)

I hardly look at the papers anymore, I watch as less TV as possible, opting to either play my Xbox360 or watching DVD's than endure the half-assed propaganda everywhere. I wonder how many citizens of Malaysia are treated into the fairytale world that is Barisan Nasional via their controlled media now. Isn't it curious that no other news other than events and opinions from the BN side are published? Not even any crimes are reported, no other news at all. Are the robbers and thieves taking a break to follow the election? Feels a little bit like a news vacuum happening in Malaysia!

And talk about the blatant advertising everywhere you go! In the papers you see BN banners and adverts in the TV, even on the billboards when I was on the highway! How much money do you think they have wasted on advertising alone for these 2 weeks? And not just normal adverts. I'm talking about full pages of adverts, EVERYDAY, and billboard advertising every 2km! And how do you think they got the money to do such stuff? Correct, correct, correct. All from public funds.

Do you, as a Malaysian, feel that we are doing well economically? Rising inflation rates, but they say our GDP has increased again, and you believe them? Rising petrol prices, they said we're still cheaper than (NON-OIL PRODUCING) countries, and you believe them? Rising crime rates, unsolved corruption cases, demolishment of temples and churches, they said they're working on it, AND YOU BELIEVE THEM? They send a tumpangnaut into space and say that WE HAVE CONQUERED SPACE, AND YOU BELIEVE THEM? What the fuck did that monkey do in space? What the fuck is our government doing in the Parliament?

If BN retains power, our petrol prices increase again this year, EVERYTHING else increases AGAIN this year... who will be responsible for this shit? Who should be blamed for allowing this mess to continue? YES, it's our sorry own arses, for electing a family-run, corruption-prone government.

Election Coming Up! Make Your Vote Count!

First Posted 14th February 2008:

Good morning and a Happy Chinese New Year to all of you! And if you're not chinese, Good morning to all of you! Today I'm going to rant on about some issues that's been in my mind these past few days.. So bear with me, kay?

First things first, from the papers, more and more articles has been focused on 2 stuff happening in our country: the VK Lingam case, and the ruckus that is the coming elections.. I have not much opinion on the Lingam case other than to either end it ASAP and convict that cheating motherf*****, or just drag it out as long as possible to pull in more big shots into the picture. And show the world how corrupted Malaysia was. Sorry, I mean 'is'.. So, on to the elections.
I'm pretty much beefed by a few stuff that's in the paper, namely the 'Khairy-wants-UMNO-to-recapture-Kelantan' issue and the 'I-hope-Lim-Kit-Siang-loses' statement made by some idiotic Ipoh Timur MP. For the first issue, Khairy was stating that PAS has been governing that state 'with empty promises' for 18 years already and wanted the residents to try BN out for 5 years. Hey, exactly my thoughts on BN currently! Quoting Khairy's words, "They should try us for five years and make a comparison. Surely after 18 years, you do not want the same thing." Why don't we use that point on Malaysia as a whole? For 50+ years we've been governed by the same coalition, our minds wired since childhood that nothing other than BN should govern Malaysia. Surely after 54 years, you do not want the same thing?

On to the next one. This Ipoh Timur MP Tajol Rosli makes the DUMBEST statements ever. First, he says that BN should make sure Kit Siang loses. How, I might ask? We, the people are deciding your fates, not BN or DAP for that matter (other than rigging the votes with phantom voters)... Then he publicly announces that he hopes Kit Siang loses. THEN, he says that even if Kit Siang wins, i quote, "it does not mean much to the Barisan". This is like me saying "I hope my dad buys me a Lamborghini Murcielago, but even if he doesn't, it doesn't mean much anyway". If this is what it takes to be MP, I would have been the People's Champion when I was 12. Dumbass.

Oh, and I'd like to place some pot-shots on our longest-serving minister who has more hair now than when he entered office 30 years ago. Stop imagining and fantasizing. The problem is real, and it's BIG. It's not only a 'minority of Indians' that are pissed off, and if you guys keep on delusioning that you're in a safe position, well, good luck to you. Not that I'll be wishing you though.

And one last word before I go.. Now play fair kids!!! Election means people who are Malaysians who aren't dead who are 21 and above and registered AND voting at their respective stations, not people from the next state or kids below 18 or dead people who are already 212 years old and people who do not exist!

Just Consider Before Doing a Mistake

First Posted on 26th February 2008:

Before we go any further, yes, this is another topic about the election. Why, nearly 80% of all our national news in the papers are about the elections anyway, so let's just jump into the fray as well, don't we?

In any case, last night, when I was having a family dinner, the topic of election came up and I was promptly labeled a 'young rebel' by my parents.. Figures. All we have in the papers, INCLUDING the adverts, are about BN propaganda. Not that it's surprising, considering that The Star is government controlled and they are duty-bound to follow the wishes of their masters to the letter. The issue now? Constant inflation, plus those unresolved issues with us 'minority' non-malays with the temple destroying and stuff. But I've already covered the temples issue before, so let me go over the inflation issue this time.

You always hear and read and watch messages from BN that the petrol prices now are cheaper compared to other countries, the sugar is cheaper, flour is cheaper, blah blah blah, but what people tend to overlook are the purchasing power of each individual in a given country. IF we Malaysia want to consider ourselves as a more developed nation, we shouldn't be comparing prices with poverty-stricken countries like Indonesia. So if we factor in the prices in Australia and Singapore, for example, versus the prices we have right now, we should also factor in the income that an average individual in that country is getting. And since I'm not running for MP, I don't have to give you statistics of how much we earn vs how much we can spend on necessities, but you see where I'm going... If you don't, well, it's because WE ARE EARNING LESS THAN THEY ARE. There you go.

Oh, and another point as well. Looking at The Star these few days, have you noticed they adverts on how much the government are paying for schools, how many graduated from UTAR and KTAR, how much the BN are working while the Opposition are only talking? In the first place, IF the opposition comes into power, why wouldn't they do the same for us? They are also Malaysian citizens. All of the contesting candidates are also educated men and women, more able to understand the theory of economics compared to 10 years ago. They also wish for a more harmonious country so that we can stand along with the best countries in the world. Heck, they can also do what BN can, if given power... The only reason BN is able to boast so much on their achievements is that ALL OUR INCOME TAXES ARE BEING GIVEN TO THEM. The Opposition, while not in power, does not have the funds to build a college, a University, a mosque... and get some 'angpau' money from the contractors while they're at it. Filthy bastards. And a plus: a more competitive political environment will keep MP's on their toes lest they are thrown out of power. Case in point? Just look at "this MAY be my last term" Samy Vellu. Too long in power until he's not able to let go.

While I sound like I'm all with the Opposition, at least please consider your conscience and understanding of Malaysian politics before going into the voting booths. We are Malaysians. We are not 2nd-class people bowing down to Malays, and we should be given enough power to make a difference, not UMNO, not BN, not even the Opposition, for that matter. This year might be our best term for us to make a difference, with the HINDRAF rally and all. The Badawi administration is slack, and most of the MP's are getting more and more corrupted, since the ACA is just as efficient as a Proton car. Oh, and to quote so many of those UMNO lackeys, "TRY US FOR 5 YEARS". So, why not the Opposition for a change?

Actually, what I'm more realistically asking for is, just put more of the Opposition seats into the Parliament, deny BN majority, so that they can lend more credibility into the Parliamentery, to be more justified in what they're doing, not only giving most of the advantages to the elite few rather than the rakyat as a whole. Oh, and Lim Kit Siang's really lonely being the only outspoken Opposition MP in the Parliament, having to deal with nincompoops like Nazri and Samy.

Oh, So Now I'm Having Sex With My 'Personal Friend' Because I'm Too Commited to My Work

First Posted on 3rd January 2008:

Sorry for the long title AGAIN.. I'm always bad with titles, I guess. And now on the headlines, a certain minister is caught having sex with a 'personal friend', the dvd gets into the public, the shit hits the fan, and now he's blaming it on invasion of privacy, opposition parties and job commitment, among other things. Well, in my opinion, I say F*** YOU, just blame yourself for straying and no need to place the blame on the opposition for taking an opportunity to show your ass out in public, no need to say you're doing it because you're too committed to your work.

I must say, if anyone was presented with an opportunity to crush opposition ministers, ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE, will take that chance without a second thought. So think again, if you had the sex dvd of a PAS or Keadilan or DAP minister, what would you do? Yes, you circulate it! Just imagine, if you were in DAP, would you get such a response? Hell, you'd be ostracized by the papers for committing such a lewd act and be comdemned by every minister in all parties! Oh, and have your datukship stripped in a blink of an eye while they're at it. The difference now is that the 'victim' involved is a minister under the government, so he can have all the support he'd want, INCLUDING the forensic police to check out the hotel where he allegedly had his 'routine health check' to look for spycams and such AND local newspapers supporting him in 'looking for the culprit behind this vicious attack on privacy rights'.

So sue me. I hate his guts, and I don't like the way papers are portraying him, like some kind of martyr for admitting his crime and 'gracefully' stepping down from his posts.. Please, if you'd want to make it graceful, just step down, SHUT THE FUCK UP and disappear from the news until it cools down. then shut up some more. No one likes a sore loser.

We're From Hindraf and We Don't Like Your Food

First Posted on 27th November 2007:

Ha! Another politically-charged article coming at you! It's been a very turbulent week lately for Malaysia, and even though I was away, I'd still like to discuss about the currently hot topic on HINDRAF. Why should I care about this? Because there is a slight probability that our country might experience civil unrest in the near future..

First off, I find it very disturbing how our mass media is reporting different 'news' to our nation from other overseas networks (BBC, Al-Jazeera, AP). While our rakyat is served government-edited and a biased news by our press domestically, other countries are again having a ball laughing at our nation's predicament. As much as I love political stability, the way our government handles these issues are a bit questionable. Riots? Blame it on HINDRAF. My mamak stall got assaulted by a gang of hooligans which happened to be Indians? Blame it on HINDRAF. My toilet's jammed again? Hey, you know the drill.

From the way our news was reported (by our domestic press), they mentioned that the Batu Caves temple's locked gates were forced open and the temple itself was damaged by HINDRAF people. But isn't it curious that HINDRAF was originally fighting for Indians' rights in the first place because Hindu temples were being unlawfully demolished? And about the mamak incident, shit, how would YOU know it was caused by HINDRAF people? "we're from HINDRAF and we don't like your roti canai, so we're gonna beat up your ass and crap your place up"? From all the publicity that they're getting from our courteous newspeople, it seems like it's gonna be an uphill battle for them as the rakyat (by rakyat i mean the ignorant fools who think that the Angkasawan was the best thing that happened to Malaysia.. yes, I'm talking about you, you dumbass) will be looking at HINDRAF with disgust. Heck, even our PM is jumping onto the bandwagon.. Invoke the ISA?

Oh, and what does our highest-ranking Indian official in Malaysia say? Well, go check out his interview with Reuters here.

Malaysia Boleh!

First Posted on 11th October 2007:

It seems just like yesterday when I heard the term 'Malaysia Boleh' everywhere. Back when our badminton shuttlers hoisted the Thomas Cup through Penang Bridge was the time when I was really proud of being Malaysian, the most appropriate time for us to shout 'Malaysia Boleh!' together! Alas, I was just a small child then, so I didn't really realise the real meaning of that term. Back then, it would symbolize that our country is able to achieve great success if we try hard enough, with training and persistence. And more recently, our celebration of 50 years of independence, it was another reason for us to cheer 'Malaysia Boleh!' again. "Why all this talk about Malaysia Boleh out of a sudden?' you readers might ask.. Especially after a long break since my last post.

The truth is, I do not think that the higher-uppers in our country understands the term 'Malaysia Boleh' anymore. Now, that term symbolizes that our country can achieve anything (note that I did not say 'success') as long as they pump enough money into it just because they can, hence 'Malaysia Boleh'. Case in point? The state of Proton right now. Without the government's endless flows of injections and market barriers (the 200000% excise tax and the delay of the AFTA agreement to be precise), our first ever Malaysian carmaker would have closed shop ages ago. Is poor management to blame? Partly. But mostly? I think it's because of the level of corruption in our country. While I am a staunch supporter of government stability (this means I'm still supporting Barisan if you're wondering), the recent disclosure by our Attorney-General of such cases of corruption inside our very own government agencies are very disturbing, to say the least. But that is a story for another day..

The real reason I'm questioning our country's understanding of the term 'Malaysia Boleh' is because of the recent 'Angkasawan' campaign that we have seen our 'first ever Malaysian bolehnaut go into space'. Would anyone please fill me in why we are doing this? Why our government is spending millions of ringgit of taxpayers' money to put a Malaysian into a Russian spaceship and staying on the space station for 10 days trying to do some teh tarik-ing in space (well, besides doing some cancer research - I wonder how far he can go in 10 days)? Are we supposed to be getting any technological breakthrough of some sorts by doing so? Will it contribute anything at all to our community? How will this angkasawan project help 'inspire future generations', as stated by Tun Dr. Mahathir? I cannot see any logic in someone achieving his/her dream of going into space for the sole purpose of 'because I can'. If you're going to be using your own money to do it, then hey, knock yourself out.... But if you're going to spend 900-freaking-million-American-dollars worth of taxpayers money to get a freebie trip into space (oh, did I mention the 18 fighter jets comes along with the package?) and 3-more-freaking-million-ringgit for training and whatnot, by all means please explain to us why, why, WHY???
For those still living under a coconut shell, we are currently the laughing stock of the world, not to mention part of our Rakyat, regarding this Angkasawan shenanigan. So, please, please NO SECOND BOLEHNAUT!!!!!!! Shit, they could use a trained monkey to shoot up into space for much, much less, and they can still tell the whole world that a Malaysian (monkey) went to space and back.. Since the whole world's gonna laugh at us anyways.. *sigh*

Cosmonaut, Astronaut, Taikonaut, my ass! Tumpangnaut, here we come!!!
